HATTIESBURG The University of Southern Mississippi seeks eligible high-school seniors from Coahoma, Attala and Leake counties to apply for the Leggett-Shearer Endowed Scholarship. The Financial Aid Office is currently accepting applications.

In 1990, Southern Miss alumna and Alumni Association members Kenneth Shearer and his brother, Leighton, established the Leggett-Shearer Endowed Scholarship in honor of their father, William Hardy Shearer, and their high-school principal, the late Thomas E. Leggett. Both Leighton Shearer and his father are now deceased.

The scholarship will be awarded by Financial Aid to deserving high-school seniors from the three-county area.

For more information on the Leggett-Shearer Scholarship, call Southern Miss Financial Aid Office at (601) 266-4774 or write to The University of Southern Mississippi Financial Aid, 118 College Drive #5101, Hattiesburg, MS 39406, or visit
