HATTIESBURG - A
faculty member at The University of Southern Mississippi will be
featured in two upcoming episodes of a History Channel program.
Dr. Andrew Wiest, a professor of history at Southern
Miss, will appear on an episode of "Battlefield Detectives"
Friday, Dec. 3, at 8 p.m. The episode features the World War I Battle
of the Somme and includes Wiest as a commentator. He will also be
featured on another December installment of "Battlefield Detectives"
that focuses on the Vietnam War. The Vietnam episode will also feature
John Young of Picayune, a U.S. military veteran of the Vietnam War
who has served as a guest lecturer in Wiest's classes.
Wiest has been a past leader of the Southern Miss
Center for International and Continuing Education's award-winning
study-abroad program in Vietnam, in addition to leading the center's
World War II study-abroad program.
