HATTIESBURG
- Nationally recognized memory expert and trainer Jon Keith will
give people a chance to train their memories for self-confidence,
self-esteem and increased productivity during a seminar scheduled
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at Casino Magic in Biloxi.
The seminar
is jointly sponsored by The University of Southern Mississippi Center
for International and Continuing Education (CICE) and The University
of West Florida's Division of Continuing and Distance Education.
"In this
age of information overload, I think everyone can benefit from this
seminar,"
said Debroah Boss, senior coordinator at Southern Miss CICE. "Whether
you are 18 or 80, from school to career to personal life, strengthening
your memory is a worthwhile investment."
Keith uses
a three-step memory training method called POP - Positive attitude,
Observation and Picture it. Humor, magic and visualization and association
techniques are also a large part of his presentation, which is aimed
at having, keeping and developing a good memory.
Among the things
participants are expected to be better able to remember are names,
faces, voices, phone numbers, zip codes, area codes, financial data,
appointments, schedules, lectures and everything read.
Dr. Michael
A. Goldfarb, a past participant in one of Keith's seminars, said,
"Jon's session is quite humorous as well as educational. His
technique is very practical and works well shortly after the session."
Another past
participant, Elouise Hay, said, "John's presentation is very
thorough and enthusiastic. I am using some of his techniques, and
they are working."
Some of Keith's
clients include Chevron USA, Ralston Purina, International Paper,
Continental Insurance and the AARP.
Another is
the U.S. Postal Service. Mary D. Volz, a personnel manager with
the postal service, said of Keith's impact, "The work done
at our company involves the interpretation and application of a
lot of detailed and complex regulations and procedures.
"Jon's
program provides good information and in an outstanding manner.
Jon's humorous and interactive training style allows individuals
to learn the memory techniques in a fun and interesting way."
Keith has more
than 27 years experience as a memory expert, and has gained fame
as the man who can memorize an entire magazine in one hour and the
names of 644 people in a room. He has appeared on national TV talk
shows, including Live with Regis and Kathy Lee and the Howie Mandel
Show.
His work has
also been featured in the New York Times and the Atlanta Journal
Constitution.
There is a
$159 registration fee for the seminar. For more information on how
