FORUM FOR FALL 2003 SEMESTER BEGINS SEPT. 9
HATTIESBURG
- Dr. Gregory Pence will present "Who's Afraid of Human
Cloning?" at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 in Bennett Auditorium as the first
University Forum of the fall 2003 semester at The University of
Southern Mississippi. Dr. Pence is a medical ethicist in the school
of medicine and the department of philosophy at the University of
Alabama at Birmingham, where he has been a member of the faculty
for more than 25 years. Pence teaches courses in philosophy and
medical ethics and has received his university's highest teaching
award, the Ingalls Award. He has published numerous books, including
Who's Afraid of Human Cloning and Brave New Bioethics. Pence's presentation

MISS TO PRESENT VOICE FACULTY RECITAL
HATTIESBURG
- The Southern Miss School of Music will present a voice faculty
recital Sept. 18 in Bennett Auditorium featuring the talents of
soprano Mary Ann Kyle and tenor Clint Nichols. The 7:30 p.m. program,
titled "The Vocal Music of Brandenburg, Saxony, and Bavaria,"
features all German music. Mary Ann Stringer, professor of music,
will collaborate with the duo on piano. Admission is free and open

T-SHIRT BURNING RALLY SET FOR SEPT. 12
HATTIESBURG
- Southern Miss students have in recent weeks traded in T-shirts,
hats and other items with logos of other schools in exchange for
a Southern Miss shirt or hat. The collected items will be burned
at the Southern Miss-Memphis football game pep rally Sept. 12 at
9 p.m. Contact the Southern Miss Alumni Office for more information.

ON SOUTHERN MISS 'LEGACY SERIES' SET

- The Legacy Series, a fun and informative educational series
about the history and traditions of Southern Miss student life,
begins with the first of four sessions Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at Joseph
Green Hall, Room 115. Each session is presented by a knowledgeable
and experienced member of the Southern Miss faculty or staff. Other
sessions are set for Oct. 2, Oct. 30 and Nov. 13, all in Joseph
