Summer Alumni Events Kick Off 2006 Football Campaign

Hattiesburg—The University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association will host a trio of summer events from Jackson to the coast to help Golden Eagle fans gear up for the start of the 2006 football season.

The 23rd Annual Southern Miss All-Star Party is set for Thursday, July 20, at Mississippi Trade Mart in Jackson. One week later on July 27, the Gulf Coast Beach Bash will be held at the Isle of Capri Casino in Biloxi. And on Saturday, Aug. 12, the 11th Annual Eagle Fanfare will be at the Payne Center on the Hattiesburg campus.

Among the featured guests will be head coaches Jeff Bower, Larry Eustachy, Joye Lee-McNelis and Corky Palmer as well as the Southern Miss cheerleaders and Seymour.

Jackson All-Star Party

Hosted by the Central Mississippi Alumni Chapter, the All-Star Party will feature a silent auction/social at 5 p.m., with dinner following at 6 p.m. In addition to the coaches, standout Golden Eagle football players will also be present for the event.

Tickets are $15 per person and children’s admission (12-18) is $8. There is no charge for children under 12. Gulf Coast Beach Bash

The Gulf Coast Beach Bash on July 27, hosted by the Gulf Coast Metro and Southeast Mississippi alumni chapters, features a social from 5 to 6 p.m., with dinner following at 6 p.m. Both the social and dinner will be held at the IP Casino in Biloxi.

As they will at the All-Star Party, standout football players will also be present at the Beach Bash.

Tickets are $15 a person. Admission for children ages 6-12 is $8. Children under age 6 get in free. Tickets can be purchased by calling Walt Denton at 228.374.5983, Scott Leslie at 228. 769.3240 or Travis Norman at 228.872.8897.

Hattiesburg’s Eagle Fanfare

Rounding out the trio of events is the 11th annual Eagle Fanfare, hosted by the South Central Mississippi Alumni Chapter and presented by The First, a National Banking Association.

Fans will have an opportunity to mingle with coaches, Seymour and cheerleaders and the entire Golden Eagle football team. Dinner and a silent auction will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., with a special program beginning at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door for adults; $8 in advance and $10 at the door for children 5-12; and free for children under 5. Tickets can be purchased from the Pat Ferlise Center at 601.266.5418 or the Ogletree Alumni House at 601.266.5013. Each ticket purchased will qualify the ticket holder for a tailgating package drawing courtesy of Campus Book Mart, one of the event’s sponsors.

Other sponsors include the Hattiesburg American, Taylor Rental and Rock 104.
