HATTIESBURG -- Local businessman
and community leader Mike Davenport has been named grand marshal
for the 21st Annual Southern Miss Coca-Cola Classic Rodeo.
The rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4, 2006,
at the James Lynn Cartlidge Forrest County Multi Purpose Center
on U.S. Highway 49 South in Hattiesburg.
Davenport is Comcast Cable’s general manager for southern Mississippi.
He is a 16-year veteran of the cable television industry and
has held a variety of technical and operational positions. Davenport
joined Comcast in 2001 and has served as the technical operations
manager in Hattiesburg, customer operations manager in Chicago
and director of technical operations in Naples, Fla. Prior to
joining Comcast, he worked for AT&T as operations manager
for northern Illinois. He has also had leadership positions
with Douglas Cablevision and TCI Cable.
Davenport has been instrumental in the local success of Comcast
Cares Day, which assists the American Red Cross with building
maintenance and upkeep of its offices in Hattiesburg and Laurel.
Davenport and his wife, Kim, live in Petal with their two children,
Josh, 16, and Amber, 10.
All tickets to the 21st Annual Southern Miss Coca-Cola Classic
Rodeo will be $10 and will be available at T.J.’s Western Ware
on U.S. Highway 49 in Hattiesburg, beginning Jan. 9, 2006.
