HATTIESBURG -- The Southern Opera and Musical Theatre Company at the University of Southern Mississippi will present Holidays on Broadway Dec. 2 at the Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg.

“Holidays on Broadway will be a festive, but musically and visually varied program,” said Dr. Maryann Kyle, director of the company. “We have some very talented student performers that will bring the holidays to life like no other concert we have performed.”

The USM Jazz Combo, dancers from Miss Kim’s Dance Studio of Hattiesburg and three singing Elvis impersonators will join the Southern Miss vocalist in a rousing evening of family fun.

Kyle said the program includes secular and sacred favorites, including “Lullaby of Broadway,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “White Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Joy to the World,” “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear,” “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “Let It Snow.”

The USM Jazz Combo, under the direction of Southern Miss jazz studies director Larry Panella, will perform a jazz sextet rendition of “Little Drummer Boy” and “We Three Kings,” along with a mamba arrangement of “Do You Hear What I Hear?”

Featured vocalists include Jennifer Allyn Abernathy of Richland; Tinyke Badenhorst of South Africa; Deidra Brown of Peachtree City, Ga.; Matthew Davis of Decatur, Ala.; Brad Gilmore of Tupelo; Hunter Graybeal of Bristol, Tenn.; Leslie Hippensteel of New Orleans, La.; Robyn Holmes of Petal; Lauren Johnson and Adam Riser of Madison; Blair Norman of Clinton; Bret Lunsford of Picayune and Jess Thomas of Hurley.
