Motorists that routinely travel onto the Southern Miss Hattiesburg campus are reminded that access will be temporarily limited in certain areas on the afternoon of Thursday, Feb. 9 due to the city of Hattiesburg’s first Caerus Mardi Gras Parade.
The parade begins at 6 p.m., traveling south from the large parking lot next to Hillcrest Residence Hall and down Service Drive, then across West Fourth Street onto Championship Lane and then onto Hardy Street travelling west and ending at 38thAvenue. A number of roads near these areas that lead into and out of campus will be blocked beginning at 4:30 p.m., including Hardy Street.
It is estimated it will take approximately 4-5 hours to access Hardy Street next to campus, which includes the time of the parade and cleaning of the street. By the time night classes end, these roads should be clear.
