Joshua Fortenberry, an assistant district attorney in the 12th Circuit Court District of Mississippi, will present “Driving Under the Influence in Mississippi: Law and Consequence,” Tuesday, Feb. 25 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Honor House on The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus.
Fortenberry was in private practice for five years before joining the District Attorney’s Office, which encompasses Forrest and Perry Counties. While in private practice, he primarily handled cases involving civil litigation, family law, and criminal defense. At the District Attorney’s office, Fortenberry is the lead prosecutor on all felony DUI related offenses, and regularly speaks on DUI law and the consequences of receiving a DUI conviction. He also works with local law enforcement agencies to help educate current and new officers on DUI law and procedures.
Fortenberry earned his B.A. in political science, summa cum laude, in 2002 from Southern Miss and his Juris Doctor in 2005 from the University of Misissippi. He was admitted to the Mississippi bar in 2006.
