The Athletic Training Program in The University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Human Performance and Recreation has admitted its first class of students since 2010. With a new administration and revised curriculum, students will benefit from a new outlook and direction for the program.

“This group of students exceeded the rigorous admissions requirements and started the program in June,” said Dr. Bill Holcomb, program director.

The program’s curriculum consists of evidence-based research and clinical experience, meeting guidelines of the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education. After completing the program in May, 2015, students will be eligible to sit for the Board of Certification exam to become a Certified Athletic Trainer.

The next class of athletic training students will be admitted in January 2014. For more information about the Athletic Training Program, visit http://www.usm.edu/human-performance-recreation/bs-athletic-training.
