Bristol Named Southern Miss Finalist for Summer Stipend

Main Content

Dr. Douglas Bristol, associate professor of history at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus, was named one of two finalists representing the university in a national competition for a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) summer stipend.

If selected, Bristol will receive funding to complete his book, “A Coming Revolution: Civil Rights Struggles in the Military during World War II,” during the summer semester. The NEH summer stipends support scholars conducting research in the humanities toward the production of various publications. Stipends are $6,000 for two consecutive months of full-time research and writing with no simultaneous teaching.
