Center for Logistics, Trade and Transportation Co-Hosts Workshop

The Gulf Region Intelligent Transportation Society (GRITS) and the University of Southern Mississippi’s Center for Logistics, Trade and Transportation (CLTT) hosted the Spring 2013 Regional Workshop that focused on Weigh-in-Motion technology and Interagency Coordination. The workshop was sponsored by Temple, Inc. and Neel-Schaffer.

The workshop, held at the University’s Hattiesburg campus, featured guest speakers: Tulio Sulbaran, Bob Susor, Bobby Hayes, Jim Hennessey and Jeff Smith. The speakers discussed several topics including: Weigh-in-Motion Technology, Weigh-in-Motion Case Study, Interagency Cooperation in ITS Applications and The “Hub” City - Over a Decade of ITS Planning and Implementation.

 “I think this was an excellent workshop that allowed working professionals to stay up to date with transportation technology” said Sulbaran, director of the CLTT.

Noted Smith, a member of the GRITS Board of Directors: “The University’s facilities were perfect for this workshop as we bring GRITS and the CLTT activities closer together to promote Intelligent Transportation Systems among students in the on-line Master of Science in Logistics, Trade and Transportation of the University of Southern Mississippi.”

The Gulf Region ITS is a chapter of ITS America that includes the geographic area of Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The overall goal is to provide government, academic agencies, and the private sector with improved access to advanced transportation technology to meet the demands place on highways, public transportation, and interfaces with air, rail, and other modes of transportation.

The Center for Logistics, Trade and Transportation (CLTT) provides a competitive advantage to logistics and supply chain industry and government agencies through its multidisciplinary activities in Logistics, Trade and Transportation including on-line Master of Science, applied research activities and networking events.
