University of Southern Mississippi employees and students still have time to contribute to the Hattiesburg campus’ United Way Campaign, as the deadline to support it has been extended to Dec. 20.
The United Way supports multiple service agencies in the Pine Belt area, including three located at the university – the DuBard School for Language Disorders, the Children’s Center for Communication and Development and the Shafer Center for Crisis Intervention.
Other agencies that benefit from the United Way include the Edwards Street Fellowship Center, Salvation Army and Boy Scouts, among others that provide educational, health and emergency financial assistance services in our area.
The Southern Miss United Way Care Team includes representatives across campus. Contact one of these representatives in your area to obtain a United Way pledge card, or contact Kameron Dale in the Department of Human Resources by e-mail at email@example.com or Mary Dayne Gregg in the Office of the President at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Pledge cards can be sent through campus mail to Kameron Dale, Box 5111. With the pledge card, Southern Miss employees and students can make a donation of any amount, and take advantage of the convenient payrolldeduction option as a way to participate in the campaign. Donors can also designate their financial pledge for a specific agency or 501(c) 3 entity.
There is no minimum on a payroll deduction. For those paid biweekly, the deduction will come out of the second check each month. One-time donations by cash or check can also be made. For those who already have a payroll deduction for United Way and want it to continue, it will remain in place for the current campaign without need of a new pledge card.
Campus campaign co-chairs are Dr. Steven Cloud, chairman of the Department of Speech and Hearings Sciences; and Corrie Thompson, interim manager with the Office of Contracts and Grants Accounting. They can also be contacted for more information about the campaign by e-mailing email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. Other campus volunteer leaders are assisting in colleges, schools, departments and other units to secure support for the campaign.
