Golden Eagle Memorial Service to Remember Students, Faculty, Staff Set

A memorial service for University of Southern Mississippi students, faculty and staff who passed away during the academic year will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 at the university’s R.C. Cook University Union, room B on the Hattiesburg campus.

The memorial service tradition began in the 2003 fall semester as an initiative of the Southern Miss Student Government Association to honor the memory of deceased members of the university community.

Students, faculty and staff to be memorialized include:

Students:Joshua L. Stephenson, an undergraduate studies major from Corinth, Miss.; Justin A. Murry, a political science major from of Columbus, Miss.; Myles Henderson, a communication studies major from Harahan, La.; Brittany S. Morgan, a nursing major from Waynesboro, Miss.; Douglas J. Bottomley, a doctoral student in international development from Atlantic Beach, Fla.; and Sara D. Delinger-White, a child and family studies major from Saucier, Miss.

Faculty:Dr. Joon Lee, a retired professor of physics; and Jay Barton Spencer, head of electronic resources, Cook Library.

Staff:Valeria Downey, student service coordinator, Southern Miss Gulf Coast College of Business.
