Gulf Park Campus Celebrates National Walking Day with One-Mile Walk

Main Content

University of Southern Mississippi students and employees, as well as representatives of the American Heart Association, celebrated National Walking Day and Public Health Week with a one-mile walk around the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. Prior to the walk, the university was presented the Fit-Friendly designation from the American Heart Association. For receiving designation in the Fit-Friendly Worksite Recognition Program, the American Heart Association recognized the university as an employer who champions the health of their employees by creating physical activity programs within the workplace. These programs and facilities, which are provided to both students and employees at Southern Miss Gulf Coast, include a fitness center, marked walking trail on campus, and a yoga class, among a variety of other programs.
