The University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association has formed a partnership with the Hattiesburg Country Club to make it the official country club of the Association.
The Hattiesburg Country Club was established in 1919, and carries on the tradition of being the finest in Hattiesburg for private golf and country club amenities. It offers a wide array of membership opportunities to accommodate every social and recreational interest, including golf, tennis, swimming or fine dining and social events. The family-oriented club’s membership includes those of every age, from toddlers to seniors.
“We’re excited to form this new partnership,” said Sean McGee, president of Hattiesburg Country Club. “This positive association with Southern Miss alumni will ultimately expose the country club to local and out-of-town constituents. Our hope is that alums living in the Hattiesburg community will choose Hattiesburg Country Club as they search for a local club that offers the finest golf, dining, swimming and tennis.
“We also invite out-of-town alumni to choose Hattiesburg Country Club when making plans to visit the area, catching up with old friends over a round of golf or even planning a reunion.”
For the past three years, the country club has hosted the annual Shell Finish Line Alumni Homecoming Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament are used to fund the Robert D. Pierce II Legacy Scholarship, one-time, $1,000 scholarships awarded to select children and grandchildren of alumni. This year’s tournament will be held Friday, Oct. 21.
“This new partnership not only provides an opportunity to continue that relationship but also strengthens the connection between the country club and Southern Miss alumni for years to come,” said Jerry DeFatta, executive director of the Alumni Association.
