The University of Southern Mississippi Institute for Disability Studies will hold a homeownership application fair on Thursday, June 6, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the community meeting room of the Jackson Medical Mall at 350 West Woodrow Wilson in Jackson, Miss. The homeownership application fair is being co-sponsored by the City of Jackson, BancorpSouth and Regions in celebration of June as National Homeownership Month.
Grants of up to $35,000 are currently available to eligible borrowers purchasing homes within the City of Jackson through the HOME Partnership Investment program funded by the City of Jackson and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
More information about these grants will be available at the application fair. Grant funds can be used for downpayment and closing cost assistance, with some funds possible for qualifying homebuyers for retrofitting, energy upgrades or home repairs.
Application fair attendees will learn about available downpayment assistance and can receive free expert advice from certified housing counselors. Information will be available on homebuyer education classes and potential local lenders will be onsite.
