Main Content

The Live Oak Writing Project at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus invites teachers to participate in their annual Invitational Summer Institute to be held June 9 – July 3 at the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. The Invitational Summer Institute is dedicated to the professional development of teachers at all grade levels in all content areas.

While attending the institute, teachers will develop their knowledge as a writing teacher and develop strategies to meet the needs of all of their students, especially during the transition to the standards of the Common Core. Participants, who can earn six hours of graduate credit from Southern Miss, will focus on writing in the content area, become part of a teacher research community, explore the latest research and technologies for teachers and also attend a writing marathon in New Orleans.

The deadline to apply is Friday, April 25 and orientation for the institute is Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3. Applications may be submitted online at www.usm.edu/gulfcoast/live-oak-writing-project.
