The Live Oak Writing Project at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast is offering Camp Live Oak, which features a variety of weeklong summer youth camps for students in grades 3 through 8. Camp sessions, except during the week of July 4, are from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.
Camp Live Oak will provide a fun environment where writing is integrated with art, science, history, literature and music. Some of the sessions include Art from the Heart, News Writers in Training and Camp Frankenstein.
Camp sessions will focus on deep learning strategies, andwill be led by Live Oak Writing Project Teacher Consultants who are experienced teachers and writers. While most sessions will be held at the Southern Miss Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach, other sessions will be available in either Jackson or Hancock Counties.
The deadline to register for the camps is Friday, April 15, and space is limited. Registration fees pay for a t-shirt, snacks and materials. For a complete listing of the Camp Live Oak sessions and registration information, visit www.usm.edu/liveoak.
