The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast will host the free public lecture, “Friendship, Death and Boethian Philosophy in the High Middle Ages” featuring Albrecht Classen, university distinguished professor at the University of Arizona. The lecture will be presented Friday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriott Beachfront Hotel in Gulfport.
Classen, an award-winning humanities scholar and specialist in the history of medieval European literature, will speak on the writings of a 12th century English poet who wrote about the travails of life. His remarks will provide insight on pre-modern European literature, religious belief and philosophy.
