A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. in the Thad Cochran Center ballrooms II and III on The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus for Virginia Berry, 63, a member of the university’s Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences faculty who died Monday, Oct. 15 at her home in Hattiesburg. A reception will follow.
A native of New Orleans, Berry joined the Southern Miss faculty in 1993. She held a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree from Vanderbilt University, as well as a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Berry’s work at Southern Miss included pediatric audiology and supervision of students in the department’s audiology clinic. She was a multiple winner of the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences’ Teacher of the Year award.
