Miss University of Southern Mississippi Pageant set for Oct. 12 at Saenger Theater

Eleven University of Southern Mississippi students will compete Saturday for the crown of Miss University of Southern Mississippi and the opportunity to advance to the state pageant.

Hosted and produced by the Student Government Association (SGA), the 69th annual Miss University of Southern Mississippi Pageant will be held at the historic Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 for students and $7 for general admission. The event is a preliminary to the Miss Mississippi Pageant and will be emceed by Southern Miss alumna Christine Kozlowski, Miss Mississippi 2008 and Mike McDaniel, news anchor for WDAM-TV.

This year’s pageant contestants include:

*Kimberly Brooke Boisseau, a freshman from New Albany, Miss. Boisseau is an international studies major and a member of the University of Southern Mississippi cheerleading squad. She is the daughter of Angela Allred Boisseau.

*Shequenna Brown, a junior from McComb, Miss. Brown is a political science major and non-profit studies minor. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, an SGA Senator, a Luckday Scholar, and a volunteer for Deaconess Hospice. She is the daughter of Joe and Stephanie Leary.

*Allison Kay Chapuis, a freshman from Mobile, Ala. Chapuis is a nursing major. She is a member of Delta Gamma sorority, the USM Baptist Student Union, and the Temple Baptist Choir. She is the daughter of the late Shane and Stephanie Chapuis.

*Anna Elizabeth Cubbage, a senior from Lucedale, Miss. Cubbage is a mathematics licensure major. She is a member of Kappa Delta sorority and numerous honor societies. She is the daughter of Danny and Lisa Cubbage.

*Arielle Marie Dale,a junior from Meridian, Miss. Dale is a dance major. She is involved with the USM Dance Department a and a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She is the daughter of Michael and Jo-Ann Dale.

*Alanna Lee Fopiano, a junior from Fayetteville, GA. Fopiano is a nutrition & dietetics major and Spanish and dance double minor.  She is a member of Chi Tau Epsilon and the Legacy Club. She is the daughter of Randall and Terri Fopiano.

*Laura Elizabeth Kirkman, a freshman from Satellite Beach, Fla. Kirkman is an undeclared major. She is a featured twirler for the Pride of Mississippi Marching Band, Honor’s College Scholar, Leadership Scholar, and member of the Residential Hall Association. She is the daughter of Steven and Lesa Kirkman.

*Katie Massey, a freshman from Nesbit, Miss. Massey is a vocal performance major and Italian minor. She is a member of two USM Honor Choirs, Legacy Club, and Student Eagle Club and an athlete in intramural sports. She is the daughter of Chris and Cathy Massey.

*Shonice Musgrove, a junior from Laurel, Miss. Musgrove is a business administration entrepreneurship major and fashion merchandising minor. She is a Leadership Scholar and a member of the SGA cabinet, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, and USM Eagles Ambassadors. She is the daughter of Burron and Brenda Musgrove.

*Kimberly Page, a junior from Ellisville, Miss. She is a speech pathology major, a member of Delta Gamma sorority and the USM Baptist Student Union, a Luckyday Scholar, and Diamond Darling. She is the daughter of Anthony and Becky Page.

*Patty Turner, a senior from Quitman, Miss. She is a bio-chemistry major, a volunteer teacher for Petal High School Band’s drum majors, an active member of First Baptist Church of Quitman, and a spokesmodel for Mississippi’s Farm Families. She is the daughter of Lee and Linda Turner.
