The University of Southern Mississippi’s Center for Logistics, Trade and Transportation (CLTT) hosted the 2013 Industry Advisory Council Summit on March 1, for industry professionals looking to promote common goals in logistics, trade and transportation.
The summit, held at the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach, featured guest speaker Congressman Steven M. Palazzo of the fourth congressional district of Mississippi. Palazzo discussed the Surface Transportation Bill and its impact to Mississippi’s economic development. In his address, Palazzo stressed the importance of logistics, trade and transportation to the nation’s economy, as well as national security.
Following the featured speaker, Gary Lagrange, president and chief executive officer of the Port of New Orleans, discussed the CLTT endowment and CLTT director, Dr. Tulio Sulbaran, provided an update of the center’s strategic plan and accomplishments since its inception nearly four years ago.
The CLTT, which provides a competitive advantage to industry and government agencies through its multidisciplinary activities in logistics, trade and transportation, is the result of an integrated effort of industry, government and the university.
