Public Hearing on Current issues in Mississippi for Individuals with Autism

The Mississippi Autism Advisory Committee (MAAC) will host a public hearing on current issues in Mississippi for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and invites everyone affected by or interested in Autism to attend the hearing.

The event will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Trent Lott Center on the Southern Miss Hattiesburg campus.

The Mississippi Autism Advisory Committee is requesting input and guidance from individuals with Autism and their family members, as well as teachers and professionals who work with individuals with Autism to use to guide recommendations to lawmakers, service providers and policy makers about the needs of the community.

Dr. Maureen Martin, director of the DuBard School for Language Disorders at The University of Southern Mississippi is a representative of the legislatively-created Mississippi Autism Advisory Committee and assisted in coordinating the event.  For additional information locally, Martin can be reached at 601.266.5223 or maureen.martin@usm.edu.
