Ann Claire Reynolds of Petal, Miss., a University of Southern Mississippi student double- majoring in special education and elementary education, was crowned the state’s Miss Hospitality after winning the pageant Friday night at the historic Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg.
Her duties as Miss Hospitality include travelling across Mississippi and beyond to promote tourism in the state and its many economic development opportunities, including at the annual Mississippi Day in the Park in New York City.
“We’re very proud of her, she’s an outstanding scholar and student leader and really represents all that’s good here at Southern Miss,” said Brooks Moore, associate dean of students at the university and coordinator of the Miss University of Southern Mississippi Pageant. “She’s a remarkable young woman.”
At Southern Miss, Reynolds is a member of Lambda Sigma Honorary Society and Eagle Connection, a student recruitment organization, as well as her sorority, Chi Omega. She also serves on the programming committee for the university’s Student Government Association (SGA).
