The Gulf Coast Library at The University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach will exhibit the work of local wood turner, Breck Whitworth, throughout August and September.
Whitworth, a wood turner who brings out beauty created through trees, is a retired high school science teacher from Gulfport and a member of the Pass Christian Art Association. One of his art pieces, titled “The Majestic,” was one of four finalists out of 93 professionals throughout the U.S. and world in the third annual National Woodturning Championship this year.
The works within the library’s “Wood Treasures” exhibit are available for purchase. The exhibit will be on display through September 30. Whitworth’s work can also be seen at the Gulfport Galleria of Fine Art in downtown Gulfport. Additionally, some examples of his work can also be viewed on his Facebook page, titled “Wood Treasures.”
