Artists of Gulfport Galleria of Fine Art are currently exhibiting art works at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Library on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. The library will host an artist reception Thursday, July 25, from 4 – 6 p.m.
Original photographs and paintings by 17 local artists are on display throughout all three floors of the Gulf Coast Library, which will be on display through August 28. All works, including some fine quality prints, are available for purchase.
Mary Anne Barkley, a local resident who specializes in watercolors, and her friend, Kathy McCall, established the Gulfport Galleria of Fine Art during the summer of 2007 after Hurricane Katrina limited locations where local artists could display their work. The organization, a cooperative, rather than a gallery, is located in downtown Gulfport. Currently, 39 members offer ceramics, woodturnings, and jewelry, as well as books by local authors.
