Main Content

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast presented the 2013 Outstanding Staff Awards to three staff members for the integral role they play in providing support to the university on the Gulf Coast.

The awards, presented at the Employee Appreciation Luncheon on October 31, were given to Beverly Starita of the Physical Plant, who received the Physical Plant/Security Award; Heather Miller in the College of Education and Psychology, who received the Support Staff Award; and Nancy Brown-Peterson at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, who received the Administrative/Professional Staff Award.

The campus committee selected winners who exhibit an exceptional commitment to teamwork, possess a superior commitment to continuous quality improvement and make contributions beyond those normally expected and required by job responsibilities. Award recipients, current full-time staff members with at least two full years of service, were selected based upon a nomination letter, two letters of support and a current job description.
