For the third consecutive year, The University of Southern Mississippi has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.
The Corporation for National and Community Service made the announcement, recognizing 690 higher education institutions nationwide as members of this year’s honor roll.
The Southern Miss Center for Community and Civic Engagement notes that in 2012 students logged approximately 61,000 hours of community service.
Honor roll members were cited for their achievements in general community service or in one of two special focus areas which align with President Barack Obama’s education and innovation priorities: the Promise Neighborhoods model and Early Childhood Education.
