Sharon Catledge, family nurse practitioner in Student Health Services at The University of Southern Mississippi, has been elected president of the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
Catledge, who lives in Hattiesburg, Miss., has spent the past two years working in Student Health Services at Southern Miss. Before that she served as a nursing instructor at Itawamba Community College.
“I am honored to serve as the board’s president,” said Catledge. “I absolutely love my profession. I have been in nursing for greater than 24 years with a wide range of experience. Community service is a part of who I am and serving on the Board of Nursing affords me another venue to give back.”
As board president, Catledge’s duties include presiding over all meetings; making decisions for the board between those meetings that require immediate action; serving on the executive committee; appointing ad hoc committees and overseeing the presentation of the executive director’s annual evaluation.
She will serve a one-year term as board president.
