Southern Miss Replaces Mature Live Oak Tree on Hattiesburg Campus

Main Content

A live oak tree that did not survive replanting last spring at The University of Southern Mississippi was replaced today (Feb. 10) by another mature live oak. Last May five live oaks were transported from a grower in Florida and replanted on the Southern Miss Hattiesburg campus as part of a major landscaping restoration project. The remaining four are alive and thriving today. More than 75 trees were lost when an EF-4 tornado struck the campus on Feb. 10, 2013. (Photos by Kelly Dunn)
