The School of Music at Southern Miss has released tickets for Showbiz Showstoppers, a one-night-only spectacular featuring show-stopping numbers from some of Broadway’s best musicals.
A talented cast of students, alumni and community members are already in rehearsals for the April 11 performance, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The highly anticipated show from the producers of last year’s Sweeney Todd made advance tickets available to Symphony season ticket holders and members of Partners for the Arts. Now, the remaining tickets are on sale to the public at the Southern Miss Ticket Office.
“This is truly a showcase of some amazingly talented people.” Said Dr. Mike Lopinto, the show’s director. “With a limited number of seats remaining, I encourage anyone who wants to enjoy this show to get tickets as soon as possible.”
The 22-member cast sings, acts and dances their way through a smorgasbord of Broadway’s best with tunes from Camelot to The Book of Mormon. During the performance, some surprise guests join in the fun. Dr. Michael Miles, director of the School of Music, conducts the ensemble and the accompanying band.
“There really is something for everyone in this show.” Said Miles. “We selected numbers that would play to strengths of the cast and create a wonderful evening of fun for our audiences.”
Tickets are $20 general admission students at the Southern Miss Ticket Office, 601.266.5418 or southernmisstickets.com.
