University of Southern Mississippi senior Eileen Dominguez, a tourism management major from Mobile, Ala., spent the majority of her spring semester as an intern with American Greetings Corp.

The internship program, launched in 2012, actively recruits business and management students from across the country. Interns are taught how to run a successful sales territory while having the opportunity to learn more about managing employees, hiring and recruiting, planning/organization, selling/marketing and the implementation of corporate programs.

“The experience I gained at American Greetings in learning how to communicate, train and manage others will help me tremendously no matter what career field I enter,” said Dominguez, who will graduate this spring.

Dominguez trained under the supervision of Dana McDaniel whose territory includes Hattiesburg, Jackson, Gulfport and surrounding areas. Dominguez received hands-on experience in managing 60 retail accounts which primarily consist of supermarkets, mass channel and drug stores. She also learned the importance of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with store management.

American Greetings, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, is the world’s largest social expressions company with annual revenue of approximately $1.6 billion.
