Bradley Floore, a triple-major College of Business student at The University of Southern Mississippi, has been awarded the 2013 Mississippi Young Bankers (MYB) Leadership Scholarship.
Each year the MYB committee, a sector of the Mississippi Bankers Association, presents a $1,000 scholarship to an outstanding Mississippi college student majoring in banking and finance.
“My immediate thought was that I couldn’t believe it,” said Floore, who is majoring in International Business, Banking and Finance and Tourism Management. “I was not expecting to hear back from the MYB committee. After it dawned on me, I was immensely grateful that I had been selected.”
Floore, a junior from Gautier, Miss., native, credits Southern Miss Professor Wayne Kelly and other members of the College of Business faculty for helping him acquire the scholarship.
“I want to thank Dr. Kelly for his support in strengthening my future finance career prospects,” said Floore. “I wholeheartedly believe that the College of Business here at Southern Miss is the best college on campus. The faculty and staff enjoy brightening students’ futures and are always willing to help students grow personally and professionally.”
Floore’s short-term goals include preparation for graduate school in hopes of securing a financial services internship. Long-range plans call for a career in the commercial banking industry or in the area of corporate finance and investments.
The Mississippi Young Bankers Leadership Scholarship has been awarded since 1998. The mission is to not only give students monetary recognition, but also encourage them to pursue banking careers in Mississippi. For more information visit www.msbankers.com
