A University of Southern Mississippi student has been charged with aggravated assault following an altercation that occurred late Saturday night at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity house on the Hattiesburg campus.

University Police arrested Elija Dollar, 22, of Ocean Springs, after responding to a fight call at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. He was charged with felony aggravated assault and booked into the Forrest County Jail. Dollar's bond was set at $25,000 this morning.

Both Dollar and the other student involved are members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. The alleged assault victim was treated for injuries and released from a local hospital.

Dollar's fraternity membership has been revoked, and he has been placed on interim suspension by the University, pending the results of an investigation into the incident.
