A team of students at The University of Southern Mississippi was named a regional champion at the Enactus United States Regional Competition held April 10 in Dallas, Texas.
As an Enactus U.S. regional champion, the Southern Miss team advances to the 2013 Enactus U.S. National Exposition in Kansas City, Mo., May 21-23.
Enactus is an international organization with teams in 39 countries. The Southern Miss team is one of more than 500 Enactus programs in the United States. Enactus is a community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to enable human progress. Participating students use business concepts to develop community outreach projects, transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world.
“The team has worked hard all year and it’s wonderful that they can receive recognition for their community service efforts,” said Dr. Jennifer Sequeira, associate professor of management at Southern Miss and Enactus team advisor. “As a team they have completed 450 hours of service for the academic year with some dedicating more than 75 individual hours. These students truly have a heart for the community and enjoy helping others to improve their lives.”
