Undergraduate and graduate students at The University of Southern Mississippi are invited to present their research at its 6th annual Student Research Colloquium, set for April 26. The deadline for submission of a research presentation proposal is April 9 at 11 p.m.

A last-minute decision to enter the Miss Collegiate America Pageant nearly resulted in a crowning for former University of Southern Mississippi student Christine Kozlowski, who captured the first runner-up spot in the annual competition held March 7-10 in San Antonio, Texas.

Deanna Douglas, professor of art at The University of Southern Mississippi, recently had her work, It’s Not an Ampersand, oil on board, shown at the 33rd annual Paper in Particular National Juried Exhibition held recently at Columbia College in Columbia, Mo. It was one of 93 of 600 entries selected for the event.

Dr. Wendy Atkins-Sayre, assistant professor in the Communication Studies Department at The University of Southern Mississippi, was recently awarded the Outstanding Alumni Award from her alma mater, Texas State University at San Marcos.
