Southern Miss Career Services is kicking off the spring semester by introducing “Backpack to Briefcase,” a series of new workshops aiming to assist students in the transition from college student to workplace professional.

More than 100 students representing various organizations at The University of Southern Mississippi turned out Monday for a community service project in conjunction with the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.

A National Science Foundation (NSF) grant managed through The University of Southern Mississippi provides invaluable learning experiences for area high school students that include field trips to the Lake Thoreau nature preserve managed through the university’s Department of Biological Sciences.

Kelly, a University of Southern Mississippi senior from Lawrence County, received her bachelor of science degree in medical technology during the university’s fall Centennial Celebration Commencement Dec. 10. She was also honored that day for her achievement in a special ceremony recognizing medical technology graduates at the R.C. Cook University Union.

TiEasha Rogers-McCray, a University of Southern Mississippi senior from Hattiesburg, received her bachelor of science degree in medical technology during the university’s fall Centennial Celebration Commencement Dec. 10. Heather White Conner, a University of Southern Mississippi senior from Natchez, Miss., received her bachelor of science degree in medical technology during the university’s fall Centennial Celebration Commencement Dec. 10. Jamena Watson, a University of Southern Mississippi senior from Grenada, Miss., graduated with a bachelor’s degree in medical technology Dec. 10 during commencement exercises on the university’s Hattiesburg campus. She was also honored that day at the department’s annual certificate ceremony.

At Southern Miss, Watson was a member of ASCLS-MS, Beta Beta Beta National Honor Society, was a member and secretary for the Medical Technology Club; and a member of Alpha Alpha Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is the daughter of James Watson and Barbara Crump.
