Urban anthropologist to speak on campus

WHEN:4:30-6 p.m.

WHERE:Gonzales Auditorium of the Liberal Arts Building.

EVENT:Internationally known anthropologist Dr. Carol Stack will present her current research on young people working minimum wage jobs. For information call 601-266-6823.

Fundraiser effort underway for victims in Japan

WHEN:11 a.m.-2 p.m.

WHERE:Shoemaker Square and Union Building.

EVENT:Southern Miss students will take donations and sell T-shirts in a fundraising effort to assist victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. For information call 601-266-4403.

“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event set

WHEN:Noon.

WHERE:Between the Union and Walker Science Building.

EVENT:All men who would like to participate are invited to strap on a pair of heels and walk to spread the word and raise money for local rape crisis centers. For information call 662.570.8222.

Children’s Book Festival gets underway

New parking garage officially opens

WHERE:New garage across from Century Park.

EVENT:A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held to open the new four-story parking garage, the first of its kind on the Southern Miss campus. For information call 601.266.4499.

DuBard School hosts Missing Links seminar

National Alcohol Screening Day event set
