Nobel Prize winner to present lecture

WHEN:7 p.m.

WHERE:Thad Cochran Center on Hattiesburg campus.

EVENT:Nobel laureate and renowned physicist Dr. Eric Cornell will share his expertise with the general public during a special address. Cornell is a professor of physics at the University of Colorado. For information call 601-266-5910.

Noted journalist to deliver speech

WHERE:Bennett Auditorium.

EVENT:Eleanor Clift, one of Washington D.C.’s best known journalists, will present “Countdown to 2012: the Road Ahead” as part of the Southern Miss Forum Lecture Series. For information call 601-266-5950.

“Fill the Stocking” toy drive set

WHEN:10 a.m.-2 p.m.

WHERE:Union lobby on Hattiesburg campus.

EVENT:This 7th annual event is designed to collect unwrapped toys for needy children in the Hattiesburg area. For information call 601-266-4403.

Annual “Lighting the Way” event set

WHEN:6 p.m.

WHERE:Front entrance to campus.

EVENT:The annual “Lighting the Way” event features holiday songs, treats for the children and the official lighting of the Southern Miss Christmas tree. For information call 601-266-4491.

Winter Wonderland event scheduled

WHEN:7:30 p.m.

WHERE:Lake Terrace Convention Center.

EVENT:With harmonies from the Southern Miss choirs and musical arrangements by the Symphony Orchestra, this holiday spectacular is a magical event for the whole family. For information call 601-266-6823.

High School drama festival scheduled

WHERE:Southern Miss Department of Theatre and Dance.

Festival showcases American Indian artistry

WHERE:Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center in Ocean Springs, Miss.
