Dr. Steven Moser was recently named Dean of the College of Arts & Letters at The University of Southern Mississippi. He has also served as director of the Pride of Mississippi and conductor of the Symphonic Winds. In this Q&A feature Moser reflects on his current responsibilities and outside interests.

Q: What is your hometown and educational background?

Career Services at The University of Southern Mississippi sponsored the Spring 2012 Career Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at the Thad Cochran Center. More than 65 employer booths were crammed with students seeking employment information.

Q: What is your hometown and educational background?

A: I’m from Dayton, Ohio. I have a BA in English from Webster University in St. Louis, an MS in mass communication from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and a Ph.D. in mass communication from Southern Miss.

A: I grew up in Portland, Texas. I have a BA and MA from Texas State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.

Q:What is your hometown and what were your interests as a young man growing up?

Southern Miss sophomore Mary Margaret Halford was recently named the Executive Editor of the Student Printz campus newspaper. Recently, Halford took a few moments to reflect on her new role at the university and other interests in a question-and-answer format.

Q: What is your hometown and educational background?

The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Nutrition and Food Systems recently had several undergraduate and graduate students receive awards for their academic and research accomplishments.

Rebecca Masters received two awards at the Southern Miss Undergraduate Research Conference, including Best Paper Dealing with an Issue of Race/Ethnicity and 2^nd Place Paper Dealing with an Issue of Public Policy. Masters also received the Higher Education Appreciation Day Working for Academic Excellence (HEADWAE) award and was inducted into the student Hall of Fame.

Dr. D. Jay Grimes, professor of marine microbiology in the Department of Coastal Sciences at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL) has been chosen to chair the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Oceans and Human Health at the University of New England, Biddeford, Maine on June 3- 8.

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Southern Arena Theatre (SAT) will celebrate its 36th season with two exciting plays performing in repertory June 21 – July 15 in the Gilbert F. Hartwig and Martha R. Tatum Theatres on the Hattiesburg campus.

The 13th of Parisis a delightful and poignant romantic comedy from one of America’s up-and-coming playwrights. First commissioned by South Coast Repertory, The 13th of Parispremiered at City Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pa., and has received productions in regional theatres throughout the country.
