Favre Mingles with Prep Players, Coaches at Inaugural 7-on-7 Camp

Brett Favre stood on the sidelines at M.M. Roberts Stadium Tuesday morning looking every bit as fit and energetic as the NFL quarterback who carved out a Hall of Fame career.

 

Could he still play? “I can still throw the ball as well as I ever have. No question about that,” said Favre as he gazed out at the youngsters assembled for his inaugural 7-on-7 football camp on The University of Southern Mississippi campus.

Forensic Files Camp Gives Students Chance to Become Crime Investigators

Students who enjoy the television drama “CSI” will want to participate in the hands-on experience provided by two University of Southern Mississippi forensic files camps set for later this month.

Students who enjoy the television drama “CSI” will want to participate in the hands-on experience provided by two University of Southern Mississippi forensic files camps set for later this month.

Titled, “Survivor: Forensic Files Summer Academy,” the camps are scheduled for June 20-25 (rising 4th-7th graders) and June 27-July 2 (rising 8th-12th graders). The summer program, which began in 2005, is sponsored by the Department of Biological Sciences at Southern Miss.

The American Legion Boys State returns to The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus May 29-June 4 to give rising high school seniors from across the state a unique, hands-on opportunity to learn how their government operates.

The American Legion Boys State returns to The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus May 29-June 4 to give rising high school seniors from across the state a unique, hands-on opportunity to learn how their government operates.

More than 275 delegates are expected to attend the 72nd edition of the program, which is being held for its second year at Southern Miss. The university will also host the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State the following week, June 5-10.

Live Oak Writing Project to Offer Summer Youth Camps

The Live Oak Writing Project at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast is offering Camp Live Oak, which features a variety of weeklong summer youth camps for students in grades 3 through 8. Camp sessions, except during the week of July 4, are from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Camp Live Oak will provide a fun environment where writing is integrated with art, science, history, literature and music. Some of the sessions include Art from the Heart, News Writers in Training and Camp Frankenstein.
