College of Health Honors Faculty, Staff at Annual Awards Banquet

The University of Southern Mississippi College of Health held its annual Faculty and Staff Award Banquet on Thursday, April 26. 

 

This year’s theme, SMASH-Ed, Southern Miss All-Stars of Health Education, featured Broadway trivia and a special dance number performed by the reigning Crowd Favorite from the Southern Miss Dancing with Deans, Dr. Michael Forster, and his partner Mrs. Dianne Coleman. 

The University of Southern Mississippi College of Health held its annual Faculty and Staff Award Banquet on Thursday, April 26.

Southern Miss’ Burcham Captures Two Prism Awards in State Contest

Tara Burcham, coordinator of public relations in the College of Science and Technology at The University of Southern Mississippi, won two professional awards at the 2012 Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM) awards banquet held recently in Columbus, Miss.

Tara Burcham, coordinator of public relations in the College of Science and Technology at The University of Southern Mississippi, won two professional awards at the 2012 Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM) awards banquet held recently in Columbus, Miss.

Burcham received a PRism award in the category Writing for Public Relations for the news release “USM Science and Mentoring Program Reaches Local High Schools.”  In the category of Images, Burcham also won a PRism award for the “USM Science Mentoring Photo.”

Karnes Co-Edits New Book in Practical Strategies Series in Gifted Education

Dr. Frances A. Karnes, distinguished university professor at The University of Southern Mississippi, and Dr. Kristin R. Stephens, assistant professor at Duke University, have co-edited another book in the Practical Strategies Series in Gifted Education published by Prufrock Press.

Dr. Frances A. Karnes, distinguished university professor at The University of Southern Mississippi, and Dr. Kristin R. Stephens, assistant professor at Duke University, have co-edited another book in the Practical Strategies Series in Gifted Education published by Prufrock Press.  The book, Science Strategies for Students with Gifts and Talents, was written by Dr. Michael S. Matthews, associate professor of gifted education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
