Didactic Program in Nutrition and Food Systems

What is Dietetics?

Dietetics is the application of knowledge about food and nutrition to help people achieve and maintain health throughout the life span. Dietetics integrates knowledge of food, nutrition, management, basic sciences, and social sciences to improve the dietary intake and health of individuals and communities.

The registered dietitian (RD) is the #1 expert to consult on current and accurate food and nutrition. Today, more than ever, people need registered dietitians to provide expert nutrition information that can enhance the quality of life for individuals, groups, families, organizations, and communities in the state, region, and nation.

Educational & Professional Requirements

Earn a bachelor’s degree at an accredited university or college and complete didactic program requirements in an accredited nutrition & dietetics program Complete a post-baccalaureate dietetic internship Pass the national registration examination
