"Making a Living While Making a Difference"

In recognition of the need for trained, certified non-profit leaders the University of Southern Mississippi offers an undergraduate minor, a graduate certificate, and the American Humanics Certification program.

The Non-Profit Studies Minor is an interdisciplinary minor which provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for work in the non-profit sector. This minor is appropriate for students in all colleges and majors who wish to pursue a variety of career choices from research and advocacy to the arts to health and social services provision.

The Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Studies is an interdisciplinary program which provides students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary for work in the non-profit sector. This certificate program is appropriate for currently enrolled Southern Miss graduate students who wish to pursue career in the nonprofit sector as well as individuals with a baccalaureate degree who are currently employed in or wish to transition to the nonprofit sector and need additional or specialized training.

Students (undergraduate and graduate) may also pursue the American Humanics Certification. American Humanics is "a non-profit management certificate program educating, preparing and certifying professionals to strengthen and lead nonprofit organizations" (http://www.humanics.org).
