Kappa Delta Pi
Kappa Delta Pi, an international educational honor society, was founded on March 8, 1922, at the University of Illinois by William Chandler Bagley, Truman Lee Kelly, and Thomas Edgar Musselman. On May 28, 1954, Katherine Vickery installed the Theta Gamma Chapter at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Today, exemplary juniors, seniors, and graduate students with grade point averages of 3.8 graduate and 3.5 undergraduate are issued invitations to join this elite group of educators. Kappa Delta Pi members participate in service oriented projects to local educational communities and to world educational communities. Southern Miss members sponsor an annual Reading Fair for local children and co-sponsor Hattiesburg’s participation in the international Stop Hunger Now: Operation Sharehouse with the Graduate Educational Research Association of Educational Leadership.
