Southern Miss knows that entering college can be a major challenge for many students. Being on your own for the first time in an unfamiliar environment can seem overwhelming at times. Southern Miss has designed the First Year Experience to assist all incoming freshmen and transfer students in adjusting to the college life.

Start with the Southern Miss Preview, an orientation program required for all new students that includes a campus tour, early registration for classes, academic advisement, and an opportunity to meet with representatives from each department.

First Year Experience also offers the Eagle Adventure, a six-day adventure orientation program designed to mentally and physically prepare incoming freshmen and new transfer students.

And Golden Eagle Welcome Week ushers in new students into the Southern Miss lifestyle through a series of campus-wide events.
