Handicap Accommodations

     Southern Miss faculty, staff and students with permanent or temporary disabilities who operate a motor vehicle on campus are required to do the following:

  1. properly display a federal or state-sanctioned handicapped placard or tag.
  2. properly display a Southern Miss handicapped parking permit.

     To purchase a Southern Miss handicapped parking permit, individuals will be required to submit a copy of one of the following to the Department of Parking Management (DPM): 

  1. a state-issued handicapped placard.
  2. a vehicle registration receipt (for those who have a disability tag).

     To apply for your Southern Miss handicapped parking permit, go to the DPM website at www.usm.edu/parking.  Once online registration is complete, you can pick up your parking permit at the DPM in McLemore Hall, Room 152.  A Southern Miss faculty, staff or student I. D. must be presented upon issuance of the parking permit.

     Locations designated for handicapped parking are as follows:  handicapped parking spaces, commuter, resident, faculty/staff and open zones.

     Visitors are required to go to the Information Booth, located at the first entrance of the campus on East Memorial Drive or the Department of Parking Management in McLemore Hall, Room 164, to register for a handicapped parking pass.
