Administrative services of the Physical Plant can be found in the Howard Gene Henderson building, on the north side of Fourth Street, behind the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office. Home to the Physical Plant since 1976, the building was dedicated in 1993 to Henderson, a former construction engineer and 21-year Director of the Physical Plant.
The administrative team acts as a support system for the many trade areas and services provided by the Physical Plant. The central processing area of the Physical Plant, the Work Control Center, serves as hub for all incoming service calls and requests for the entire Hattiesburg campus. With more than 24,000 work orders processed last year, the work control team also fields numerous phone calls daily, while distributing work requests to the appropriate trade area. In addition to the Work Control Center, the Physical Plant administrative support team also includes an accounting department, human resources, construction, project management and space utilization.
