March 28th: Oratorio for Prague

A film begun as a documentary about the liberalization of Czechoslovakia becomes a record of the entry of Soviet tanks into Prague in 1968.

<>April 4th: The Motorcycle Diaries
(2004, directed by Walter Salles)

"Let the world change you and you can change the world."  The film follows the youthful adventures of pre-revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevera.  As he and his best friend traverse South America they not only discover themselves but are given a new perspective into the injustices of the continent.

<>April 11th: Osama
(2003, directed by Siddiq Barmak) <>

Inspired by a true story, this is the first film made in Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban.  Unable to work and on the brink of starvation, an Afghan mother
disguises her daughter as a boy.  Now called 'Osama,' the girl embarks on a terrifying and confusing journey as she tries to keep the Taliban from finding out her true identity.

<>April 18th: Mississippi: Is this America?
(1987, directed by Henry Hampton)

Episode Five of the PBS documentary series, "Eyes on the Prize."  The documentary covers the Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi during 1962-64, including the assassination of Medgar Evers, Freedom Summer activities, and the effort of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party to be seated at the national convention.
